SAV Consulting is a supporter of the Federal Merchant Marine Act of 1920 (the Jones Act), which regulates maritime commerce within the United States. SAV Consulting is committed to uphold its principles and the benefits it brings to the United States and its citizens. The Jones Act in sum requires that goods shipped between U.S. ports to be transported on U.S. flagged ships that are constructed, owned and crewed by United States citizens or permanent residents. Aside from providing a secure and constant flow of goods to Puerto Rico and Hawaii, the Jones Act secures border protection, competitive pricing of goods and provides port and job security to ship crews as well as port personnel. Furthermore, it also provides certain benefits to seamen as it provides injured sailors the right to make claims for damages from their employers and fellow crew members.
